Everyone Deserves Equitable Access to life-changing Professional Development training!
Youth Empowerment Services, Inc. (YES,
INC.) is a non profit agency based in San Antonio, TX.
YES, Inc. began by securing projects through the Job Training Partnership Act (JTPA) in 1995. For the
past 12 years, since 2010, YES, INC. has been training thousands of educators with funding from
the United States Department of Education (USDE) Teacher Incentive Fund and Teacher and
School Leadership grants. In 2010, YES, INC. received a five-year, $13 million, dollar grant to work with ten charter school districts, to train the Superintendents, principals, teacher leaders, and teachers to become more effective educators to improve the academic outcomes of their students.
Because of the success of the project, in 2016, YES, INC. was awarded a five-year, $54,000,000
grant, to expand the effectiveness training to include the creation and design of human capital
management systems (HCMS) where professional development was implemented through the
creation of comprehensive professional development plans based upon the training needs of the educators. In 2017, YES, INC. was awarded an $8 million, three-year grant, to include effective
professional development for new educators entering the field of education.
Youth Empowerment Services, Inc. was founded to specifically work with young people to provide meaningful engagement opportunities during the summer months to help reduce the impact of summer restlessness that often led to troublesome outcomes.
With JTPA funding and a grant to serve 500 young people, the summer of 1995 proved to be a time that YES, INC. established itself as an "exemplary" program. Then in 1998, YES, INC. capitalized upon its success as a summer program to become a charter school enabling YES, INC. to continue working with young people for longer than two months during the summer.
In 2010 with five years and $13,000,000 in USDE (United States Department of Education) funding to support teachers in becoming more effective so that young people could improve their academic skills, YES, INC. officially entered the world of educator training. When the charter school was revoked in 2014 due to the passage of Senate Bill 2, after 18 years of serving students, YES, INC. continued to provide high-quality teacher training and was awarded a $54,000,000 USDE grant to continue educator training with a focus on developing Human Capital Management Systems (HCMS). Then when the focus on teacher retention became a hot topic, in 2017 YES, INC. was awarded an $8,000,000 grant to develop the Educator Effectiveness Process (EEP) pipeline.
Over the past twelve years, YES, INC. has trained over 1000 educators impacting over 7000 students, parents, and community members, and has become a premier training entity focused exclusively on helping teachers become their most effective so that their students improve academically.
YES, INC. intends to continue its mission to ensure that everyone has access to equitable professional development training, especially educators to ensure that more effective teachers remain in the field of teaching.
